Created by the Mar Thoma Church, Snehatheeram is competently controlled and guided by a General Body with Members drawn from all walks of life.

The effective management of Snehatheeram is vested in a Managing Committee of 15 members elected by the General Body for a period of three years. This Committee, inter alia, has social scientists, technical experts and field workers as its members.

Trained Social Workers and local Volunteers (both paid and honorary), under a Director, implement the programmes in the field. Local Committees and Self Help Groups make the programmes of Snehatheeram really participatory.
